There’s No One Like You
You are uniquely made. You are one-of-a-kind. You are made to bring value to others. So, what’s stopping you from sharing your gifts with others? What’s holding you back?
I think each of us,deep down inside, knows that we should be sharing our gifts others, but we have a fear of failing that holds us back. Not putting yourself out there is REJECTING to yourself!
The Innocence of Youth
Ask a room full of first graders “Can you paint?” or “Can you sing?” and all hands will go up. Ask a room full of high school freshman the same questions and just a few hands will go up. What happened within those few short years? The fear of failing, conforming mindset, self sabotaging, and the fear of failing are probable answers.
Conforming to Others Expectations
So many times we think things must be done like everyone else for it to be correct. Coloring within the lines, playing it safe, and conforming to what others expect overrides what we deep down inside want to get out.
Self Sabotaging
Often times we self-sabotage ourselves and the creative ideas we are carrying around to share with others: our unaired blogs, our unwritten books, our entrepreneurial endeavor, our relationships. We play it safe to protect ourselves. We come up with excuses such as: no time, not the right time, when I feel better, when the kids grow up, etc.
Fear of Failing
So what if we actually start to share our gifts and talents with others and we get it wrong? What if no one is interested in what we have to offer? Both are common fears, but if we remember that there’s no right or wrong way to share our gifts with each other. Our “audience” may just be one person and that’s ok-that’s one person who needed to get what you had to share!
So Now What?
1-Embrace Imperfection
Many people don’t even want to strive for GREAT because they fear they will show themselves to be IMPERFECT and come up short! Get over your damn self…NO ONE IS PERFECT!
2-Remember That You’re Not Alone
Everyone experiences resistance. Let this encourage you and use it as fuel to propel you to carry on and share, share, share what you have with others!
I’ll leave you with a quote from Zig Ziglar. Let it propel you to get stated. He said..
“You don’t have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great.” Now go. Be you and show the world what you got!
